Creating safe spaces to restore community life…
As part of early recovery efforts in areas affected by the earthquake in northwest Syria, and through a community-based disaster risk management approach that strengthens livelihoods and community resilience, Bahar Humanitarian Organization implemented a rehabilitation initiative for Al-Sharia Park in Afrin city.
The initiative included removal and clearance of rubble, as well as the planting of trees and ornamental plants, transforming the park into a safe public space where children can play freely and families can gather and reconnect.
In the upcoming phase, the project will also include:
• Construction of sanitation facilities (toilet block)
• Installation of lighting poles
• Installation of children’s playground equipment
Because recovery is not only about rebuilding infrastructure, but also about restoring hope, dignity, and social cohesion within communities.
