Bahar Organization

We support our society

We make faith

In 2012, recognising the ever - increasing unmet needs of the population still in Syria, a group of medical professionals who had crossed the border to Turkey made a joint commitment to help alleviate the suffering caused by the outbreak of conflict. Out of that concern and initiative, Bahar Organisation was born.

Bahar is a local organization delivering support across northern Syria and in Iraq. Our work is guided by international human rights and humanitarian standards and principles to ensure that international human rights and humanitarian standards are indeed respected, implemented, and enforced at the local level. We value the different backgrounds and beliefs of all people we work with and therefore promote interfaith collaboration. As a civil society actor, Bahar realizes its mission and vision through development cooperation, humanitarian assistance, and advocacy work.

What People
Says About Us

With our commitment to "Rebuilding Communities," Bahar aims to improve the lives of those we serve at physical, psychological, and social/community levels. While our direction is clear, we recognize the need for adaptability and innovation to navigate the inevitable challenges faced by both our organization and the communities we work with in the future.

Dr. Niazi Habash, Co-Founder

Education has been severely affected, with nearly 2.5 million children out of school and 1.6 million more at risk of dropping out. Half a million children suffer from chronic malnutrition, while areas such as northwest Syria face the imminent threat of acute malnutrition reaching emergency levels among displaced children in hard-to-reach areas and camps.

Dr. Koran Ahmad, Chairman of the Board of Directors

We have passed another year of suffering and misery for the Syrians, where they have endured increasing hardships and needs in all sectors, amid declining international interest in finding a solution to the Syrian crisis. Bahar has continued taking on the responsibility of bridging the growing gap of needs, adapting to doing more with fewer financial resources. Tremendous efforts have been made by hundreds of workers in the Bahar organization to stand by the vulnerable groups. We have increased our focus on advocacy at the donor and decision-makers levels to create a glimmer of hope for millions of Syrians. We reaffirm our commitment to working diligently to remain the voice of the voiceless and marginalized people.
